Healthy Banana Chocolate Donuts

Updated: Sep 26, 2019

{Vegan and Gluten Free}

Yes, you heard me - these donuts are healthy!!

Kitchen Supplies:

Silicone donut molds (I got mine off amazon)

One large bowl

2+ small bowls

Almond Flour

Pure Maple Syrup

Cocoa Powder

Baking Powder

Chocolate Chips

Coconut Oil

Desired Toppings

Baking Powder:

I make my own baking powder since store bought usually has cornstarch and aluminum in it. To do this I mix: 1/2 cup cream of tartar, 1/4 cup baking soda, and 2 tbsp of arrowroot

To make these first - preheat the oven to 325.

In a big bowl prepare 2 flaxseed eggs according to the packaging. Note: if you can have eggs you can just use two normal eggs😊.

Once the flaxseed eggs are set, add in:

1 C + 1 TBSP blanched almond flour

1/4 C pure maple syrup

1/4 C cocoa powder

1 tsp vanilla

1 tsp baking powder.

Mix all the above ingredients together and then add in one mashed banana.

Bake for 20 minutes and let cool.

You can either be done here, or add the chocolate toppings.

If you are chocolate lover like me, melt @santabarbrachocolate chips with some coconut oil (you don't need a lot of coconut oil) in the microwave. I start by microwaving it for 1 minute and then move to 30 second intervals with mixing in between each interval until the chocolate is completely melted.

I usually have one bowl for the melted chocolate, and one bowl for each desired topping. I dip the cooled donut in the melted chocolate and then in the topping I have chosen. Toppings I have used before are: editable rose petals, mini chocolate chips, and natural sprinkles by @lilsipper (evo hemp seeds and @wildernesspoets dragon fruit powder mixed).
